Is it free?

Yes. It is free software under the AGPLv3, and the source is on Codeberg.

Is it ready for production printing?

It is an alpha. Features are missing, behaviour changes between builds, and you should keep your existing slicer installed.

Will my printer be supported?

If a profile exists and the output format is one the alpha writes, yes. If not, a profile can be written by hand.

Why Codeberg instead of a larger host?

The project prefers infrastructure that is run as a community rather than as a product. It is the same reason this slicer exists.
